Good Eats in Greenwich: BSF

I’m a burger and fries kind of girl. Not the kind you get at McDonalds or Burger King–I mean the real deal.

For weeks and weeks, my husband has been talking about Burgers, Shakes & Fries in the Byram section of Greenwich, CT. He and his cousins made a visit last Monday and came back raving about the burgers. I admit it, I was skeptical. Could it possibly be as good as my favorite burger places?

Um, yes.

And I would have pictures of our delicious burgers if it hadn’t been for an unfortunate incident involving some crumbling concrete stairs, my 2-year-old son, and my husband. That incident ended in a trip to the ER to check out my husband’s bleeding and bruised elbow. Luckily everything and everyone is fine.

So, just picture this and when I go back (maybe this weekend?) I’ll be sure to take some tasty shots.

Two thick pieces of buttery toasted bread
One thick, juicy hamburger patty (1/3 of a pound for a single, 2/3 of a pound for a double)
And your choice of toppings

(Note: These burgers are served medium rare unless otherwise specified.)

I got my favorite burger–a single with cheese, mustard, ketchup and pickles.

What do I love about BSF? I love that it’s a simple menu done well. The shake was good–a double chocolate malt. The fries were amazing….SOOOO amazing.

Like I said, we’ll be back. Hopefully a few more times before I leave the East Coast.

Final word: BSF rivals the best burger joints out there. It was nice to find a place that could really satisfy this pregnant mama’s appetite for a hearty burger. They aren’t easy to find on this side of the country.

Head on over for a visit:

  1. I’ll have to put that on my to-try list if ever in Fairfield County (I’m in Middlesex, but it seems like a world away). I’m another CT resident missing the west (and In-N-Out burger)!

  2. I think there’s something about being pregnant that makes things taste even better. The best and only Big Mac I ever enjoyed in my life was eaten while I was pregnant for my oldest daughter at a McDonald’s in Winnipeg, Manitoba . . . gosh! some 30 years ago now! I still remember how tasty it was. I’ve had one or two since, but they never have ever come up to the tastiness of that one!

  3. I’m right there with you. I love a good burger, though I never eat the fast food ones. I’m bookmarking this entry, definitely need to try this place out when I move East in just a few weeks :).

  4. Ooh, I’m drooling! I’m not much of a meat eater but every now and then I’ve just gotta have a good burger! And fabulous fries, of course! I’m putting this place on my list when/if I ever get down there. Dang I want one right now!
